Bakari Akinyele is a natural indigo and culinary fermentation specialist whose practice is deeply rooted in the indigo dye traditions of South Korea and Mali. Grounded in the philosophy of sustainability, his visual arts work explores how physical objects can be preserved, beautified, and extended in their usefulness for future generations.
In Celebration of Earth Day – April 19th 2025
Join Bakari for a Community Indigo Vat Day at Sew Green Arts Studio. From 10 AM to 3 PM, he will offer indigo dyeing sessions ($25 per person) and guide participants in the care and stewardship of a live indigo vat.
Each guest is invited to bring two freshly washed white cotton items ready for a sustainable transformation through natural dye.
